Breathedge 2 Ending Explained: The Jammer, Mary's Coordinates (779014-EE5), the Betrayal, and What Happens After

This page covers how the Chapter 1 story ends (retrieve the jammer, finish the activation), what Mary's coordinates 779014-EE5 actually mean, the betrayal reveal, whether Chapter 2 is playable yet, and what's worth doing in your save afterward. Breathedge 2's Chapter 1 ends on a cliffhanger, not a finale. You retrieve a signal jammer, activate it, and the resulting transmission points toward Mary — while revealing the crew has been betrayed. Then the game politely tells you it's Early Access and stops. This page walks the exact sequence, so you know you've reached the real ending and not missed a hidden path.

Retrieve the Jammer

How the Ending Starts

The final story sequence begins once you finish Retrieve the Jammer. Everything before that — triangulating the interference, getting inside the facility, opening the shuttle route, and the alkaline-solution objective — is still part of reaching the ending rather than understanding it. With the jammer recovered, the last interaction is mechanical:

  1. Watch the circular sensor

    on the device.

  2. Wait for the reading to settle.

  3. When it turns green,

    hit it with the crowbar.

That opens the communication channel the whole chapter has been building toward — and the transmission that follows is the real payoff.

A promise, not a destination

Mary's Coordinates: 779014-EE5

The transmission gives the clearest lead Chapter 1 has offered: "Find Mary. 779014-EE5." That's the location given for Mary, and it points toward the next part of the story — but here's the catch: the current Chapter 1 content does not let you travel there. Earlier coordinates in the game usually meant immediate progression: get a location, stock up, fly toward it. This one behaves differently:

  • No new destination marker

    waiting behind another repair.

  • No terminal

    where you enter 779014-EE5.

  • No second region

that opens if you go back through the Depot looking for something missed.

779014-EE5 is a promise of where the story goes next. It is not a playable objective yet. If you've reached the coordinates and feel stuck, that's the ending — not a broken quest.

Two problems at once

The Betrayal Reveal

Finding Mary is only half of what the final conversation reveals. The crew quickly realizes they've been betrayed, and the problem shifts immediately after the transmission. The danger is the transmission itself. If it was intercepted, whoever is listening may now know the group's quadrant — possibly their exact coordinates. The conversation swings from "find Mary" to "get out before that information can be used against us." So Chapter 1 leaves you with two unresolved problems at once:

  1. Mary is somewhere ahead at 779014-EE5.

  2. The people trying to reach her may now have been located themselves.

There's no playable escape sequence after that reveal — yet.

No

Can You Start Chapter 2?

No. This is not one of those endings where the next quest exists but hides behind an optional conversation or an unfinished side objective. The dialogue openly jokes about the next chapter not being available, and then the game puts the boundary directly on screen:

"Thanks for playing Early Access!"

That screen marks the current end of the playable story.

If you've done all of the following, you are caught up with the available main story:

  • retrieved the jammer
  • completed the activation
  • received 779014-EE5
  • reached the Early Access screen

Returning to the Depot to repair one more machine will not unlock Chapter 2. Nothing in the current build does.

Stay in the save

What to Do After the Ending

The game doesn't throw you out of the save after the story cutoff — the crew even gives practical advice: scavenge for anything useful. With no next chapter to chase, unfinished exploration and scavenging become the natural use of the save. This is the time to revisit content you deliberately left behind while the story was moving:

  • Unfinished side quests.
  • Research objectives (like the Small Engines you skipped).
  • Unexplored markers.
  • Equipment you unlocked but never crafted.
  • Materials you passed because carrying them would have slowed a story run.

Two practical notes: clean up with a goal rather than sweeping the whole map, and keep the stockpiling reasonable — there's little value in filling every container with speculative materials for recipes that don't exist yet. Finish the equipment you want, leave the save comfortable, and keep the inventory flexible for future content.

Context, not a target

How Long Chapter 1 Takes

A broad Chapter 1 run falls around the 8–10 hour range when you mix the main story with normal scavenging, side objectives, and wrong turns. Treat that as context, not a completion target:

  • Zero-gravity navigation can add a lot of time.
  • Searching for one tiny quest object can add more.
  • Returning for a missing repair material or investigating every question mark adds up.
  • A story-focused route can finish sooner; a completion-minded run takes longer.

The main-story objective is the better progress indicator. If you're eight or ten hours in but still have an active main quest for the antenna, Depot, or jammer, you haven't accidentally passed the ending.

Four traps

Common Mistakes

  1. Treating 779014-EE5 as a playable destination.

It's a story promise, not a travel objective — no marker, no terminal, no new region.

  2. Going back to the Depot to "find" Chapter 2.

It isn't there. The Early Access screen is the end of the current story.

  3. Judging progress by hours played.

Use the active main quest — being 8-10 hours in with the jammer still ahead is normal, not a missed ending.

  4. Sweeping the whole map after the ending without a goal.

Clean up unfinished quests and research with a purpose instead.

Quick answers

FAQ

What is the Chapter 1 ending?
You retrieve the signal jammer, activate it (wait for the sensor to turn green, hit it with the crowbar), and the final transmission gives Mary's coordinates while revealing the crew was betrayed. Then the game shows the Early Access ending screen.
Can I go to Mary's coordinates?
No. 779014-EE5 is a promise of where the story goes next, not a playable destination in the current build.
Who betrayed the crew?
The ending reveals the crew has been betrayed, but the details are left as a cliffhanger — the identity and scope are not resolved in Chapter 1.
Can I start Chapter 2?
Not yet. The game displays "Thanks for playing Early Access!" and there's no hidden path into a second chapter.
What can I do after the ending?
Stay in the same save and clean up: side quests, research, unexplored markers, uncrafted equipment, and materials you passed. The crew suggests scavenging.
How long is Chapter 1?
Roughly 8–10 hours with mixed exploration, faster if you stick to the story, longer for completionists.
