Breathedge 2 Twister Tool: How to Unlock It in the Hubble, the Recipe, and Everything It Opens

This page covers how to unlock the Twister (find the broken one in the Hubble), the exact recipe, and everything the tool opens — sealed containers, two collectibles, and a stuck battery — plus when you'll actually need it. The Twister is Breathedge 2's seal-opening tool: it twists open and dismantles sealed structures that your other tools can't touch. It's the last of the three manual tools you'll get (after the Scrap tool and the Cutters), and it quietly gates a handful of collectibles and one quest step. The catch is that it isn't handed to you — you have to find the broken one first.

Found, not crafted

How to Unlock the Twister

The Twister isn't a starter tool, and it isn't earned by crafting progress — it's found. Here's the unlock:

  1. Progress the main quest to the Hubble

    (partway through Chapter 1).

  2. Inside the Hubble

look for the skeleton near the desk.

  3. Grab the broken Twister tool

    from the skeleton's hand.

  4. Inspect it

inspecting the broken tool unlocks the Twister's crafting recipe.

That's the whole unlock: get into the Hubble, find the skeleton by the desk, inspect the broken tool. Once the recipe is unlocked, you can build a working Twister and use it from then on. If you're stuck trying to open a sealed container before reaching the Hubble, that's the answer — the tool comes later in the chapter, not sooner.

Four materials

The Recipe

Once unlocked, the Twister costs:

Crafting cost

  • Aluminum×4
  • Wires×2
  • Duct Tape×3
  • Plastic×2

Craft it in the crafting menu (C) like any other tool. Of the four materials, aluminum, wires, and duct tape are all standard scavenge — the one to watch is plastic, which is the game's recurring early bottleneck (you need it for the Cutters first). By the time you've reached the Hubble, you'll likely have everything except possibly plastic, so it's usually a short gather-and-craft job.

The final tool in the ladder

What the Twister Does

The Twister's job is opening things the other tools can't:

  • The Scrap tool

pries, breaks ice, and smashes objects.

  • The Cutters

slice through sealed piping and closed sections.

  • The Twister

twists open and dismantles sealed structures and fasteners — the container types that resist both prying and cutting.

In practice, anything described as a "fastener" or a sealed container that won't budge to a crowbar is a Twister job. It's the final tool in the manual-tool ladder, and it's the one you reach for when "this looks openable but won't open."

Confirmed uses

Where You'll Need It

The Twister has a short but specific list of confirmed uses in the launch chapter:

  • The "Roly-poly Marie Curie" collectible

inside the baggage container underneath the train; the Twister undoes the fasteners holding it shut. This is an early collectible you can't reach until you have the Twister.

  • The "Humans only" poster

the collectible near the diggers' hideout sits behind a door that needs the Twister to open.

  • The Chuck's Taxi quest ending

when you get stuck inside the structure after meeting Chuck, the Twister unscrews the battery at the bottom (then the Scrap tool hits the lid). The Twister is the only way out of that one.

Beyond those, you'll come across other sealed containers and structures that simply won't open to the Scrap tool or Cutters — those are Twister jobs too, even if the exact list isn't fully documented. The rule of thumb: if it's sealed and neither prying nor cutting works, it's the Twister.

No reason to wait

When to Get It

There's no reason to wait once the Hubble is available:

  1. Unlock it

the moment you're inside the Hubble and have inspected the broken tool.

  2. Craft it

as soon as you have the materials — plastic is the only likely hold-up.

  3. Use it on the way back

the train's baggage container (Roly-poly Marie Curie) is under the train you came from, so you can clear that collectible on the return trip.

While you're in the Hubble, there's also the Xatab collectible inside the Hubble screens — grab it on the same visit so you don't come back twice. The Twister and Xatab both live in the same structure.

Three traps

Common Mistakes

  1. Assuming the Scrap tool or Cutters open everything.

They don't. Sealed fasteners need the Twister specifically, and no amount of prying or cutting will budge them.

  2. Not knowing the Twister is found, not crafted.

If you search the crafting list before reaching the Hubble, it isn't there — because you haven't unlocked it yet. The unlock is finding the broken tool in the Hubble.

  3. Skipping the baggage container on the way back.

The Roly-poly Marie Curie collectible is under the train and needs the Twister — grab it on the return trip after unlocking.

FAQ

How do I unlock the Twister?
Reach the Hubble in the main quest, find the broken Twister in the skeleton's hand near the desk, and inspect it.
What does the Twister cost?
Aluminum ×4, Wires ×2, Duct Tape ×3, Plastic ×2.
What can it open?
Sealed structures and fasteners that resist the Scrap tool and Cutters — confirmed uses include two collectibles (Roly-poly Marie Curie, Humans only) and the Chuck's Taxi stuck-battery exit.
